Mayor's Charity Committee May 2018

Hannah Cooper (The One to One Project), Ben Colson (charity committee member), Cllr Jim Moriarty (deputy mayor 2017/2018), Simon Bower (mayor’s consort 2017/2018), Cllr Carol Bower (borough mayor 2017/2018), Tony Bartlett (supporter of the charity committee), Paula Hall (chief executive the Purfleet Trust), Darren Taylor (charity committee member)

The One to One Project were delighted to join the former Mayor, Counsellor Carol Bower, and former deputy Mayor, Counsellor Jim Moriarty, along with Paula Hall (Purfleet Trust) and members of the Mayor’s Charity Committee, for a final celebration to mark the teams incredible success in raising vital awareness and funds for its two chosen charities; One to One Project and the Purfleet Trust.

At a meeting on the 3rd July, both charities were presented with cheques for £10,500 each; totaling £21,000 and exceeding all totals previously reached by Carol’s predecessors! This success was down to the hard work and determination of the whole team, who worked relentlessly to plan fundraising events throughout the mayoral year, from bucket collecting to the St. George’s Day Feast to running the Grand East Anglia Run in full Mayor’s regalia… you name it, we did it!

Carol and Jim have been a fantastic Mayor and Deputy Mayor, evident in their commitment to immerse themselves into everything ‘West Norfolk’! Leaving no corner un-visited, their passion and enthusiasm has brought communities together in so many positive ways. Not to mention in choosing One to One Project alongside Purfleet Trust, resulting in a collaborative project to bring specialist mental health support to homeless individuals across West Norfolk. We are incredibly proud to have launched such an important project and to celebrate it as the legacy of Carol and the Mayor’s Charity Committee 2017/18.
